Rochelle Furtado, Physiotherapy Resident

Hello! You may recognize me from doing my clinical placement with Jaclyn back in Fall 2022. It’s safe to say, the town and its people have a special place in my heart, and I am excited to be back for the year, while I finish my PhD on the side.

I completed my undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of Ottawa, and then came to Western University for a Master of Science. I immediately entered the combined MPT/PhD program in 2019, in where I just completed the Master of Science in Physical Therapy in 2023 and will complete the PhD in summer 2024.

My research focuses on creating more accessible rehab programs for patients, with a focus on patients with arthritis. In my spare time, I love to run outdoors. I just completed my first 5 km race this fall and have many more this spring.

Areas of special interest: orthopaedic injuries, pelvic health (non-internal) and stroke

WE ARE
DIFFERENT
BECAUSE

We value what the patient brings to the table as experts of their own bodies.

We create an office environment that is less clinical and feels more like home.

We focus on empathetic listening.

We communicate and approach care in a non hierarchal way.

We don't believe you are broken or in need of fixing but rather continually growing, evolving and adapting.  We believe there is power in working with our bodies, not against them.

At The Phyiso Nook, we redefine what is “normal” and remove barriers that traditionally exist surrounding pelvic health. We create a space where you feel safe and heard, making it easier for you to talk about your body free of judgment or shame.

We take the time to understand your journey, where you’ve come from, and where you want to be. Through an individualized mix of education, manual therapy, exercise prescription, and collaboration, we can help you navigate the rehab landscape. We want you to feel empowered and unhindered in your quest to get back to the things you love!

If you are someone who is mentally and physically exhausted by carrying the burden of complex and lingering symptoms, we work hard to help support you in achieving meaningful and lasting change.
